Just in time for the season.

個展のために作品を作っていることもあって、今週はいつもより多く蝋型を作った。
作り始めると予定外のものも作ってしまうので、間に合うか心配になる。

寒くも暑くもないこの季節は蜜蝋を扱うのにちょうどいい季節。
暑いと蜜蝋がダレてくっついたり崩れたりしてしまうし、寒いと力加減によっては割れてしまうので思うようにならなくてイライラすることも多々ある。
寒い季節でも、指先が温かい人はいいかもしれないけど、私は指先が冷えやすいので細かい細工をするときには特に、指を温めながらでないとここぞというときに割ったりして悲惨な目に遭うことが多い。
（たまに泣きたくなる）

貴金属の溶接や切断などは作業スペースでないとできないけど、蝋型を作るのは特別な設備はいらないので、その時々の気分で作業場所を決める。
今日はダイニングで作業をしていた。

夏場はダイニング、冬場はリビングのこたつで作業していることが多い。
ダイニングで作業していると、家族が覗きに来ては無言で去っていく。
作業スペースも開けっ放しだから、そっちにもよく来る。

気になるらしい…

それか、また何か作りたいものがあるのかもしれない。
昨年はゴルフマーカーを作りたい、と言い出したので作り方を教えた。

今年に入ってからは、鋳造時にできる端材が面白かったらしく、それを使ってブローチを作って、と言い出したので作った。

最初のうちは作業をしているところを見られていると、ソワソワしてしまって手が止まったりしてたけど、最近は慣れたのでそんなこともない。
ただ、作り方を教えたり、普段しないようなものを作るのは気にならないので頼んでくれていいんだけど、できれば個展が終わってからにしてほしい。

Since I have been making pieces for my solo exhibition, I have made more wax molds this week than usual.
Once I start making things, I end up making things that I didn’t plan to make, and I worry about whether I will be able to finish in time.

This season, which is neither cold nor hot, is the perfect time to work with miturou.
When it is hot, the miturou sticks and crumbles, and when it is cold, it breaks depending on how hard I work with it, so I often get frustrated when things don’t turn out the way I want them to.
It may be fine if you have warm fingers even in the cold season, but I tend to have cold fingers, so I have to keep my fingers warm when I do fine work, or else I often break them at the critical moment and have a disastrous time.
(Sometimes it makes me want to cry.)

Welding and cutting of precious metals can only be done in a work space, but making wax molds do not require special equipment, so I decide where to work depending on my mood at the time.
Today, I was working in the dining room.

In summer, I often work in the dining room, and in winter, I work at the kotatsu in the living room.
When I work in the dining room, my family comes to take a peek and leaves without saying a word.
The work space is also left open, so they often come there too.

They seem to be curious…

Or maybe they want to make something again.
Last year, he said he wanted to make golf markers, so I taught him how to make them.

This year, he started to enjoy the scraps from the casting process and asked me to make him a brooch using them, so I did.

In the beginning, when he was being watched while he was working, he would get nervous and stop working, but recently he has gotten used to it and it doesn’t happen that often.
However, I don’t mind teaching them how to make things or making things that I wouldn’t normally do, so they can ask me to do so, but preferably after the exhibition is over.
