The shape of hydrangea.
夕方の散歩で見つけた紫陽花

子供の頃は紫陽花といえば、ホンアジサイという種類しか見かけなかったけど、最近はガクアジサイやヤマアジサイ、セイヨウアジサイなどいろんな種類を庭先で育てている人もいて、いろんな種類があるんだなぁ…と見ていて楽しい。

土壌のpHで萼の色が変わるからか、花言葉も「移り気」で、昔はあんまり好まれなかったみたいな話を聞いた事がある。
また、梅雨＝どんよりしたイメージのせいか、あんまり好きじゃなかったけど、種類があることを知ってから、あの独特のフォルムが見ていて飽きない。

なんであんな風になったんだろ…

When I was a child, the only kind of hydrangea I saw was the Hon ajisai, but nowadays, people are growing all kinds of hydrangeas in their gardens, including Gaku ajisai, Yama ajisai, and seiyou ajisai.
It is fun to see.

I have heard that the color of the calyx changes depending on the pH of the soil, and that the language of flowers is also “changeable,” which was not very popular in the past.
Also, I never really liked them because of the dreary image of the rainy season, but now that I know there are different types, I never get tired of looking at their unique form.

I wonder how they got that way…
