I remember when summer comes.

ここ数年間開催が見合わせになっていた催し物が復活してきたこともあって、今年は浴衣姿をよく見かける。
見ているととても楽しい。

浴衣を見ると、夏休みの自由研究のテーマとして、祖母に教えてもらって手縫いしたことを思い出す。
中学生にしてはものすごく渋い柄の反物を選んだ事、当時は今ほど浴衣を着る風潮がなかった事もあって、優秀賞をもらった。
（翌年は浴衣が大量に出展されていた）
翌年は自分でデザインしたワンピースを縫ったけど、思い切ってドレスを縫えばよかったな、と思ったり。

今、その浴衣は箪笥に大事に仕舞われている。

I often see people dressed in yukata this year, as some of the events that had been canceled for the past few years have come back to life.
It is fun to look at them.

The sight of yukata reminds me of the time my grandmother taught me how to sew one by hand as a theme for my free research project during summer vacation.
I won an award for excellence, partly because I chose a fabric with a very austere pattern for a junior high school student, and partly because yukata were not as popular then as they are now.
(The next year, a large number of yukata were exhibited.)
The next year, I sewed a one-piece dress of my own design, but I wished I had taken the plunge and sewed a dress.

The yukata is carefully stored in a chest now.
